In 2011, Greg Scott saw that while our C3's Kid's Meals was helping daily to provide nutrition for the children enrolled in our Partner After School programs, little was really being done to educate the children about portion control, positive food choices and overall wellness. He pushed to implement C3's W.I.N. Program (wellness, inspiration and nutrition).
The mission of the W.I.N. Program is to inspire, educate and promote healthy food choices, exercise and an overall wellness in children. Using C3's Kid's Meals as a vehicle, Cover 3 educates the children receiving free meals while administering healthy choice food.
The W.I.N. Curriculum was established by Cover 3 staff and Board Members in partnership with certified nutritionists and physical education teachers. You can find the W.I.N. Curriculum in all of our C3's Kid's Meals sites by beginning of the 2012-13 school year.
#6532
#6532 is an initiative put together to help raise awareness about the need for healthy and balanced eating habits in children. Every day children are faced with food choices that are less than the desirable USDA recommendations. #6532 represents the minimum daily requirements of 6 grains, 5 fruits and/or vegetables, 3 milk or dairy and 2 meat/protein servings. We hope to encourage children to eat well and eat to live.
Fuel Up to Play 60
Greg became a member of the Fuel Up to Play 60 MVP Council in December 2012 after being hand-picked for the program. Greg will be the representative of the program in Southeastern Virginia and Northeastern North Carolina.
Fuel Up to Play 60 helps students make positive changes in their schools by improving opportunities to consume nutrient-rich foods and get at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. The ultimate goal is to ensure changes made at school are sustainable and compliments – not competes with – an academics-focused environment.
As a representative Greg travels to schools promoting the program and helping students one assembly at a time. He also helps in the award presentations (PICS) at schools who receive grants from Fuel Up to Play 60. MORE ABOUT FUTP60
