Franklin, VA – Greg Scott, President and CEO of Cover 3 Foundation and Former NFL Defensive Lineman has been asked to serve on the MVP Council for Fuel Up to Play 60.

In 2007, the National Dairy Council and the NFL were both actively pursuing ways to combat the childhood obesity epidemic. These two organizations joined together to develop Fuel Up to Play 60, which supports nutrition and physical activity. Fuel Up to Play 60 (FUTP 60) is an in-school nutrition and physical activity program launched by National Dairy Council (NDC) and National Football League (NFL), in collaboration with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The program encourages youth to consume nutrient-rich foods (low-fat and fat-free dairy foods, fruits, vegetables and whole grains) and achieve at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. Fuel Up to Play 60 empowers youth to take action to improve nutrition and physical activity at their school and for their own health. Fuel Up to Play 60 makes it easy for students and schools to gain access to resources they need, and rewards youth for making positive changes. More than 70,000 public and private schools are enrolled in Fuel Up to Play 60; they schools serve approximately 36 million students. “I was deeply honored to be asked to serve on the MVP Council for Fuel Up to Play 60. After attending a conference in December 2012, I knew this was the right fit for me and Cover 3 Foundation”, stated Greg Scott, President and CEO, “Childhood hunger and obesity go hand in hand and stem from poor eating habits and lack of healthy nutritious foods in children’s diets.”
